Jammu Kashmir is the first Himalayan state
of India, divided into three regions: the
foothill plains of Jammu, the lakes and
blue valleys of Kashmir, and the high altitude
plains and starkly beautiful mountains of

and water lily flower amidst bustling lanes.
By the lakeside there are gardens of the
Mughals in patterned beauty. Srinagar's
'Takht-i- Sulaiman' hill forms the famous
backdrop to the city.
Jammu is famous for its temples. In fact,
it is known as the city of temples. Bahu
Mata is the presiding deity of Jammu, while
the dargah of Peer Budhan Ali Shah is its
famous shrine. The other major tourist attraction
is the Ragunath Temple Complex. The complex
also houses a rich collection of ancient
texts and manuscripts.
But to really enjoy the beautiful valley
of Kashmir, you will have to get away from
Srinagar up to the hill stations around
the valley. Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg
are all delightful in them and offer great
opportunities for adventure sports like
trekking, mountaineering and Trans Himalayan
Jeep Safari.
